April SCHRA Meeting: Next Level Leave Administration – FMLA Guidance for 2023 and Beyond

Are you ready to take your FMLA knowledge to the next level? Join SCHRA for our April meeting to learn Next Level Leave Administration. This course is designed for employers and brokers and is intended to educate and inform employers about FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) give the complexity of it. It will provide an understanding of how to comply with specific tricky regulations and will also provide tools for employers to learn how to interpret the regulations.

About our Speaker:

Ms. Freeman has spent more than 20 years at Unum focused on all things absence management. As Assistant Vice President, Legal Counsel, Daris’s primary responsibility is to support Unum’s Absence Management Center which administers FMLA, paid leave, ADA and over 200 complementary state laws. She partners with the operation and their clients to ensure absence management programs compliant with federal and state laws.  Most recently, her time is focused on the paid leave landscape. This includes advocacy efforts to support Unum’s current and developing paid leave services and initiatives. Ms. Freeman also partners with state agencies through rulemaking and operational workgroups to apply her expertise and experience to the development of their programs. In addition, she assists in the development of Unum’s products and services to help clients comply with paid leave requirements while integrating with existing leave and pay programs.

Daris received her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Covenant College, her Juris Doctor from the Nashville School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee.  She is a certified trainer for SHRM and CE credit and is a frequent speaker on FMLA, ADA and paid leave.
